Holder of symbols and Moon baby

I have added beading to the edge of the  "medicine bag".
I thought about adding a coconut button for a closure, but decided to add snaps instead.
I call it a medicine bag but it really is a fun "holder of symbols" that reflect
my friend. I made some fun trinkets to put in the bag, but I do not want to show them because my friend might be peeking here! :)
I still need to decide on a strap for the bag ???
Not sure what I want to do...

Moon baby is done. It was a labor of love.
Did I mention I made him out of a wool sock?
I just love how soft he is! He fits into the palm of your hand.
I did touch ups to all the paint,
finished his arm and leg and added the heart and moon. He has been safely put away in a
box which I will take to my son when I go for a visit soon...
I am counting the days!

Tah Dah!

Cold

It is cold here...below 0 at times and this is the view from my kitchen window this morning.

Adding a few more little stitches to this tiny bag....I am so slow at this lately.

I made moon baby a new leg and arm and just need to add two more layers of paint/varnish.

I am making moon baby for my eldest son.
Mind you he is a grown man, but I see moon baby as a piece
of art and therefore it is ok to give it to him.
I will put a hanger on the back of it so it can be hung.
Even if he hangs it in a closet, that is fine with me
because at least he knows I think of him all the time...
I will take it to him when I visit him soon. I can hardly wait.

Vintage Kimono Fabric

The big white flower-ish design reminds me of a lotus flower for some reason....

The fabrics were a gift from the fabulous Mary Stanley:
xo

This is the whole piece I am working on....I am stitching the vintage kimono pieces on to wool.
As I am looking at this picture I see a "4" in the fabric! ;)

A little update on moon baby...

I decided in all my brillance to use a hot glue gun to attach one of the legs to the fabric and it snapped. So air dry clay is not going to work for me. Also, one of the hands fingers literally fell off!
ugh! I feel that with all the time I have put into it that I need something that will be durable, so I am going to look into using a more durable clay that must be fired. Any suggestions for a type of clay?

p.s. I did make repairs and will complete him once the new leg/hand dry.

Also, I have a small complaint: Why is it that 100% cotton stuffing is so hard to find?  Corporate America has thrust upon us that yucky polyester fiber fill! Ok, I understand that some people think it is all that and a bag of chips, but I have found that the fibers literally poke through the fabric and there is nothing I really like about it.
If anyone has a suggestion where I could find 100% cotton fiber fill that is not going to cost $100 for a box...please let me know.
Thank you for listening....

Clay face

Hi all! Happy New Year! My new motto for this year, 2013 is:

"If you don't work to build your dreams, you will work to build someone else's dreams."

So this year my focus is MY dreams and that  includes creative, artistic endeavors.

One of my goals has been to work/play with a little clay and yesterday
I was driving by one of those paint your own pottery shops and I thought I would stop in to check it out, as I have never been there before. I met the owner and began talking to her about different kinds of clay and it so happened she had extra clay she could sell.
Perfect! So I walked away with a handful and a start :)

I also have begun reading this book: The Artist Way by Julia Cameron

So I raise my cup of coffee to all of you and say, "Here is to more creative time for all of us!"

Cheers! :)
