quiet broken

I have stitched the word "broken" in a softer color so it has become "quiet".

The stars are stitched in a fabulous metallic thread by DMC. (E130)
I have used metallic threads before but I really love the colors in this one. I am not really much of a
"bling" kinda girl, but this thread called my name when I saw it. lol!

My daughters laugh at me because they say I need to be a member of
Socks Anonymous and Thread Anonymous. I have a thing for socks and thread.
I would say two useful items, so not a bad thing to be obsessed with.

  1. I like how the quiet broken looks like a healed scar - still there, not as noticeable...i hope you had a very Happy Mother's Day!

  2. Marie, this is evolving so beautifully -- the color of the thread seems just right. Does this new metallic thread tangle less?

  4. Hi Gina, I could not answer right away because of BLOGGER! Anyway, My Mother's Day was nice. I spent it with the children and went out for ice cream. Hope your day was special and happy too! :)

The neutral shade of thread really quiets the word "broken" and I like your description of a healed scar. How many do we all have??? :)

  5. Hi Marie -- trouble with blogger over my way, too -- they lost one whole day and I see they lost some of your comments cuz I left one the other day on this. Anyway, what I was wondering is if the new metallic thread tangles as much as normal? Or do you have any tricks for stitching with it? And I do like your choice of thread colors very much!

  7. Hi Peggy,
When these computer systems work they are fabulous, but oh so frustrating when they don't work. :P
Well, regarding the "tangle factor", I would say it is better than the old stuff, but don't get too excited...it still tangles, just not as bad.
My only trick was using 2 strands rather than 3 or 4. It seemed to work better. Also, it does have a tendency to separate because it is almost wire-y and like a filament...does that make sense?
I wish I had a better picture because the stitching over the word broken is variegated and it is much prettier in person...sigh...
    Anyway, thank you<3

  8. I love the quiet broken heart. Thanks for sharing the videos, very inspiring!!! I find working with metallic thread a challenge as well...but it can really be dramatic.

  9. I have met the woman who inspired Robin/Magnolia Pearl. I used to shop at her stores in Fredricksberg, Texas.
The stores were very Shabby Chic, vintage cool!
Metallic thread is fun. Just a touch goes a long way.
    Thank you <3

  10. Such a fantastic post Marie. Not only is your work just beautiful but you have also 'stitched' the story together with both videos. I can now see why you love it so much....you have great inspiration from the woman behind Robin/Magnolia Pearl. Well done!

I gave you a little mention in my post today too :)
