this is great, great, great! aren't you glad there was that pink stain now? look where it took you!
Hi Handstories,Thank you :) (I am blushing..smiles!)I am glad that pink stain was there and I like where it has taken me..."outside of the box" ;)
I have to say it would never have occured to me to patch the background and think thats idea is brilliant. Its looking amazing!
Hi Liniecat,After washing the fabric and realizing the stain was not going to come out I thought of one of my favorite artist, Aminah Robinson. I decided I would cover the picture/stains with fabric gifted to me from far away.I am having fun with it. Thank you.:)<3
Wow! The cross-stitch is lovely but the addition of the fabrics really makes the stitching pop. Absolutely incredibly beautiful. Have a great week. Tammy
Hi Tammy,I was concerned that the figures would disappear after I added the fabric, but I agree that it has made them pop. I am liking the crazy quilt effect... Hope your week is great too! Thank you.<3
just love how you are putting this together. thanks for visiting my blog and for the encouragement. you're right...the best way to handle the heat is to do all outside stuff in the early morning.
I like the "freedom" this piece is giving me. No perfect pieces of fabric and the stitches can be "wonky" if I want them to be : )<3
Marie, I can't even BEGIN to tell you how much I love what you're doing here! It's perfect. xoxo
Hi Peggy,I am having fun with this one! I can not wait to frame it up again. The frame is a bit weathered, but charming. Thank you <3
This is unbelievable, Marie, and so beautiful ! I cannot tell you how it touches me to see those known fabrics used in such a different and creative way. A real mosaic of colours, patterns and origins. Wonderful artwork.
Hi Isabelle,I often think of you as I am stitching the bits of fabric. I wonder whose hands made the fabrics and what the person was thinking? I know some of the fabrics come from far away and I wonder if they would be amazed to see where the fabric they made is and what I am making with it? lol!I have finally got all the pieces of fabric pinned down and I just have to stitch all the pieces in place. Will share soon...Thank you <3
oh wow! i'm at at such a loss for words at how amazing and beautiful this is! it makes me look at the piles of vintage stitcheries on the shelves in my studio with a whole new perspective! this is sheer genius, marie! and your execution is stunning!
Hi Joe,Thank you : )I wish I could say the last 5 days off have proved me fruitful with stitching, but alas not one bloomin' stitch on my picture. Too much going on. I have had a paint brush in my hand painting my place and been running around with children and company and yadha ya...lol! Since I started this picture I have found another one that I am pondering doing the same thing too If I can ever get this one finished lol! I will be sharing it soon...<3
Marie, I keep coming back to see this, and just have to say I echo Joe's comments above that it is just amazing. It feels free, spontaneous, innovative.
