My goal was to work with what was on my desk and this new little stash of fabric is perfect.
I love the happy colors, they make me smile
: )
BEGIN...
This is my little piece I stitched up. I am thinking I will put it on the Grandmother quilt because it is those retro 1940's fabrics.THINGS ON MY DESK:
shopping for school clothes and all I wanted was nail polish. (It's the little things!)
Sweet card for my Birthday from my youngest one <3
A birthday gift from a dear friend... Gaian Tarot cards.
Let me just say they are beautiful and what I love most is that the author adds a positive affirmation for each card.

What can I say...I love Sublime Stitching. She started her business in my home town,
Austin!
FOUND:
Lastly, this is not at my desk. It is a cross stitch that is a Yard long.
It has to be at least 20 years old. This is a picture of it after I hand washed it. First I treated the stains with vinegar, then washed it in a mild soap. Does anyone out there have an idea how I can get rid of the pink? The backing that was used was an old campaign poster that had red on it and I think that is where the pink came from.
One idea I had was to do white cross stitch over the pink, but that will not completely resolve the issue.
Also, I do not want to put too much time into this. Someone spent countless hours stitching this and I
think it is a real treasure at $4. Again, any ideas????
<3
your "begin" made me smile!
ReplyDeletei don't know how to get rid of the pink, i kind of like it, maybe you could go with it & paint other colors around it to surround them w/a rainbow?
& love your turquoise toes. i've got some green around here somewhere...
i forgot to say happy happy birthday!
DeleteThank you so much <3
DeletePainting around it is certainly one good idea (love rainbows)...as I was reading your thoughts it occurred to me I could cut around the pink and add newer fabric??? hmmm...something to think about.
I wanted a really fun turquoise color for my toes...it makes me happy : )
Hope you find your green : )
Happy Birthday, Marie! The older I get the more i find that happy colors on my toes are just the ticket! I would google the pink problem. What a treasure, you can almost imagine the lady sitting in front of her TV or radio stitching...
ReplyDeleteHi Gina...thanks! : )
ReplyDeleteI agree...the older I get the more I want fun colors on my toes, especially when I wear sandals. Yep, I will google the pink problem again. I tried the one thing I found...vinegar, but it did very little. I know I wondered who made it. I can say that I do believe it came from Mass. because the campaign poster board that was on the back of it had the state outline.
I like to imagine what the person was like...
Happy Birthday, dear Marie! I'm happy for you that you got the Gaian tarot cards because I remember that you liked them so much. :)) And the way your little cloth piece came together is inspiring and comforting somehow, too -- taking what's there and making something so sweet. Lastly, I thought, too, of using paint on that cloth but I think you could also do some applique a la Jude style or use thread as you've already mentioned. I loved reading this, it was like a good visit. xo
ReplyDeleteHi Peggy :)
DeleteI have been thinking about applique,as you mentioned a la Jude style, and I think that could be fun.
It would be like "stepping out of the box" for this piece. I think I will dig through my fabrics and see what I can come up with. Thank you for the inspiration :)
When I visit your blog I always feel like I am visiting a dear friend too! xo <3
Oh and thank you for the birthday wishes...it was actually July 6 :)
I was just showing things on my desk and the card was from my sweet young one. Actually she is almost 14 lol!
Here in Oz we can buy a product called Dylon Colour Run-away, for when whites get washed with colours that run. If you have it there, it might work on this pink.
ReplyDeleteHi Nanette,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your suggestion. I think I have come up with a crafty alternative (which I am going to post about as soon as I upload the pictures...,
but I will remember this product for future use. : )
Thank you again <3
Loving all the happy fabric colors and your stitching projects. Can't wait to see how they all come together. I like the pink, too...for some odd reason...Happy Birthday, sweet Marie!
