I found another needlework picture for the kitchen. It is retro 1970-ish, but it captured my
attention. I just can not believe someone spent so much time on a large picture and it is cast
off. I imagine the woman who made it loved what she was doing because the detail in this picture
is amazing. The strawberries in the basket are 3-D.
I have managed to piece together the whole top to the baby quilt. The only pieces that are not stitched
down are 3 small squares on the bottom of the quilt. Will have to do that next weekend....
I was hoping to see the Harvest Moon tonight,
but we have cloudy skies and unless there is a break in the cloudiness we will not have a view.
Hopefully all of you will get some nice pictures : )
I am off to work and a busy week ahead...I will be traveling next week and attending conferences and then whirlwind back home to finish out the work week.

By the way...I finally put the Oaxaca workshop on my blog...and hopefully it explains why we chose Mexico. I have never been to Oaxaca myself, but my art pals have and it sounds really wonderful.
DeleteYour week sounds full - I, too wonder about stuff like the strawberries embroidery when I see it in Goodwill. I know theres a story to it...I could never part with such things, especially if they were made by my mother. happy traveling - be safe!
ReplyDeleteI feel like a little baby complaining because I know we are all busy, right?
DeleteI often imagine what the person could be like who stitched up all the cool
needle work pictures.
And thank you, I will be safe : )

That strawberry piece is wonderful! You have to wonder about who made it and it's journey to you. Also, love your beautiful quilt pieces.... they come together so sweetly.

Hi Dulcy,
DeleteI always imagine it had to be a gentle spirit who would take that much time and care to create something with so much character :)
I look forward to the part where I can put some hand stitches into the baby quilt. Thank you.

So sweet, that cheerful baby quilt -- you got a lot done!! Have a great week, Marie. xoxo
ReplyDeleteHi Peggy,
DeleteI was rather proud of myself getting the basic part done. Lol!
:)
You always bring me a smile :)

I always wonder about that too, where it comes from and why... It's as if the pieces run out of family. Take care!
