Jonathon Livingston Seagull kinda day

When I saw this picture my daughter took I thought of this book:

Does anyone remember this book?

I remember it had such a profound impact on me in the early late 70's early 80's.

"I want to fly where no seagull has flow before. I want to know what there is to know about life!"

"Heaven isn't a place; heaven is perfection."

a heart in the sand....

Daughter #2 and I were able to get away to the beach for about an hour and 1/2

I was able to stitch a little.....

Me...working on Frida Kahlo at the beach...

a train passing by the beach....

Seeing children playing on the beach is so heart-warming to
me. I love their little imaginations....sweet.

a little visitor wanders casually by....

  1. I definitely remember that book - I was going into 9th grade - read it non-stop til I finished it, in about a day. A few years ago, I re-red it. It would make a nice gift for a teenager - think I might go buy a copy! Lovely pics - did you get the FK inspired Allegria shoe link I sent? I might need to get them!

  2. I read it waiting in a train station in 1974. My little brother had dropped me off and handed it to me as he left. Your day at the beach looks like so much fun.

  3. What a perfectly lovely day you had! How's Frida coming along? I love that piece.
About JLS -- I just remember the nuns were a little shook up by the whole business. Lots of walls were crashing down about then. What a great memory, thanks!

  4. My daughter and I only got to stay for a short period of time, but it was lovely. Just being with her and being able to enjoy the beautiful day.
Have you read Illusions by Richard Bach?
That book was a real turning point for my consciousness!
Frida is coming along s-l-o-w-l-y :/
Hmmm...why were the nuns all shook up by JLS?

  5. Hi Jeannie,

I am amazed at how you remember when and where...it did have a profound affect on people, right?

It was such a gorgeous day at the beach...it was the day after the hurricane and it is surprising to me how one day can be tumultuous and the next day so lovely. Thank you <3

I really like the JLS book for gift giving and for teens it is an easy read.
My daughter gets photo credit. I am still learning how to use my new to me camera. : )

  8. Marie, those shoes are you! Remember seeing the new stuff at Laura Ashley and just knowing what spoke to us as we took it out of those "coffin boxes"? (:
